REASONS FOR THE WORK

The Cantiere Nuovo Gaslini Project, through the construction of Padiglione Zero and the renovation of a number of existing pavilions, will make it possible to enhance the hospital’s service offer, in order to provide better patient care, optimising treatment efficiency and allowing a higher number of admissions.

In addition, adaptation to specific industry regulations and authorisations will ensure compliance with healthcare best practices and standards.

The restructure, based on the principle of intensity of care on three levels and technological complexity, will promote targeted and specialised management, ensuring the necessary attention and care according to the medical condition of each patient. Therefore, facilities are planned based on common resources, from the surgical unit to the laboratories, to the high, medium and low intensity care departments.

The creation of a single integrated hub (Padiglione Zero, 15, 16, 17, 18) will make it possible to:

  • address the current fragmentation of health services across multiple buildings;
  • offer the patient the most suitable setting;
  • improve efficiency, operational and organisational effectiveness;
  • promote functional organisation based on the separation of paths, with the dual objective of improving efficiency in the employment of healthcare personnel and in the provision of services to the patient.

The new internal organisation will therefore be resilient because of its flexibility: the ability to adapt it to the different management requirements and to a dynamic service delivery logic, in line with the evolution of healthcare.
