ENHANCEMENT OF GREEN AREAS

The strong green connotation of the Institute represents an opportunity for environmental redevelopment in relation to the surrounding urban space, but also for the promotion of greenery with cultural and ecological value, serving a complex hospital facility and the community.

The new green areas will not only compensate for the trees cut down for the construction of Padiglione Zero, but will identify the entrance to the New Gaslini, increasing its recognisability and giving it a new image, closer to the needs of pediatric patients, their families and healthcare workers.

The new healthcare landscape is configured into the following spaces:

  • the welcome garden, located at the entrance to the New Gaslini, was designed to be a space dedicated not only to the guests of the healthcare facility but to the entire community;
  • the green roof on the new Padiglione Zero, to be created as a roof and as a shield for the plant level;
  • the garden of silence, dedicated to the Morgue (Pavilion 6), designed to guarantee the right amount of privacy in a place of meditation that deserves care and respect.
